Campers at Spring Lake Park will have less of a walk to use a latrine and will be safer in the event of severe weather when the campground opens in the spring.
Greene County Conservation staff installed a precast concrete latrine at the south end of the main campground in November. The project received $16,000 from the Greene County Community Foundation; total cost was $34,000.
According to Greene County Conservation director Dan Towers, the structure will also serve as a storm shelter in an area without much other protection.
